Best Start & School Age Program

Best Start is a new provincial early learning and child care initiative designed to provide more access to licensed child care and early learning opportunities for Ontario families. The primary goal of Best Start is to assist children to be ready to learn when they start Grade 1 studies.   Best Start Services are delivered in convenient and easily accessed locations across our communities.

Lambton Rural Child Care operates four Best Start Program locations:

•  Dawn Euphemia Public School
•  Dresden Area Central School
•  East Lambton Elementary School
•  St. Michael Catholic School
•  Errol Village Public School

Each location offers a variety of programs which may include:

Early Learning Framework Program (ELF) - This free service is available for children 31 months to four years of age in a school setting and licensed early learning environment. ELF helps children gain school readiness skills, through play, with their peers.   Children living within Lambton County or the Municipality of Chatham-Kent are entitled to ten sessions per month.   These sessions consist of a two and a half hour period in which your child will attend program.

JK/SK Wrap Program - This program is available for children enrolled in Junior or Senior Kindergarten on the days when they
are not attending school.   This program is to enhance their school studies while allowing the child to remain in a familiar surrounding area.

Before and After School Care Program - This program is available for school-aged children from Junior Kindergarten to 12 years of age, extending their day before and after school each weekday.   This program allows your child to be transferred from a stimulating childcare program to their classroom with seamless effort.
